Biography

Isabella González Díaz is a Venezuelan conductor, music educator, French hornist, composer, and workshop leader whose work spans Scotland, Latin America, East Africa, and the UK. Her musical journey began in Venezuela, where she sang in choirs as a child before moving to the United States, where she later discovered her love for the French horn at the age of 14. In 2020, she relocated to Scotland to study for her Bachelor’s in Horn Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, from which she has recently graduated.

A dynamic and visionary force in community music, Isabella is dedicated to fostering inclusive, participant-led, and creative programmes that support musicians of all ages and backgrounds. She leads workshops and tutors with organisations including Sistema Scotland, the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, Africa Institute of Music, National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland (NYPBS), Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors, and the Africa Music School, among others. Internationally, she is the Founder and Director of Musica Unita, an international music education charity dedicated to expanding access to quality music education worldwide. For the past three years, she has been delivering this programme both online and in person, and the organisation is currently awaiting formal charitable status. The organisation currently delivers music education and community programmes across Uganda and Scotland, addressing the global education crisis by using music as a platform to develop skills, creativity, and cultural understanding.

As a passionate advocate for educational equity, Isabella serves as a Global Youth Ambassador for Theirworld and uses digital platforms, including an Instagram series, to raise awareness about the global education crisis and promote access to learning worldwide. She has been teaching privately for over seven years and has shared her expertise as a Guest Lecturer in Community Music at Wells Cathedral School, Early Years Music Scotland, and Intersoul Colombia. She is also a mentor with the English Schools Orchestra and the Benedetti Foundation, where she serves as a Lead Ambassador and Music Workshop Assistant.

A prolific composer, Isabella has been commissioned to write for the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, Ruaridh Gray, and the Royal National Mòd Gold Medallists, with her work recorded by BBC nan Gàidheal in 2024. As a performer, she has appeared with ensembles such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Berlin Opera Academy, Royal Marines Band of Scotland, and Celtic Connections orchestras.

Isabella is also an accomplished conductor, currently serving as Musical Director for the Partickhill Community Choir and Pentland Junior Singers, as well as other freelance and amateur orchestras in Scotland. Her conducting has been shaped through mentorship with Natalia Luis-Bassa and training at the George Hurst Conducting Course, BBCA Conducting Competition, and other professional development programmes.

Grounded in connection, empowerment, and creativity, Isabella’s work continues to inspire musicians and audiences alike. Through performance, composition, education, and leadership, she champions the belief that music education needs to be fundamentally accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Teaching

Whether you're preparing for standardized music exams like ABRSM, exploring a new instrument, or simply learning for personal enjoyment, you’re in the right place. With over seven years of experience in private teaching, I have worked with students of all ages and levels, tailoring lessons to their unique goals and learning styles.

I hold an ABRSM Teaching Diploma, a Disclosure Scotland PVG membership, and have undergone extensive training in music education. Currently, I work with various music organizations across the UK as a Music Educator, including Sistema Scotland, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors, and more.

At the heart of my teaching is a commitment to creating a safe, creative, and engaging environment where students feel supported and inspired to grow. I believe that learning music should be an enriching experience—one that nurtures confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love for music. My approach is student-centered, adapting to individual needs while encouraging exploration, expression, and technical development. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced musician, I aim to make each lesson not only educational but also enjoyable and fulfilling.
